I came across your column by just scrolling through Substack. And just happened to start reading and before I knew it, I was laughing!! I like hearing about your kids. That’s what I was laughing at!! I’m a 66 year old with grandkids and 1 beautiful little red haired great granddaughter. So I’m looking forward to reading about you cuz Lord knows I need a laugh after this disastrous election.

Welcome Patricia! I’m so glad you’ve found me. And a great grandmother! Huge respect. No doubt you’ve seen it all. When it comes to parenting, I find that I have to either laugh or cry - usually both simultaneously 😆 I’m based in Australia, but we’ve all been watching the US in fear. Sending love and laughs your way xx 🤗

Came for the promised quokka, instead got treated to a small child crying. Scrolled down and very glad to find that there actually was a quokka

Quokka are cute. Small children are cute too (less so when crying), but I can find those in my own house without crossing to the other side of the continent

Just found you via Andy Carter liking your latest one about the infuriating conversation volume monitor in the restaurant.

I can already tell I want to read more. I’m Wendy, mum of four adult children, including triplets who’ve got kids of their own now. UK journalist, I got sidetracked for many years but now here writing again. Good to meet you!

Triplets with kids of their own! I bow down to thee, Wendy 🙇‍♀️ I’m not surprised you got sidetracked! I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks and I’m very rusty with writing personal stories (gimme a boring client brief and I can bang it out in no time), so it all feels very new and exciting and a bit scary. But I’m mostly just so happy to connect with and read the work of other amazing people like you! ❤️
